Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
